This thesis focuses on application of optimization in design of spur gear. The shape of the gear is determined based on the result of topology optimization. A parameter optimization is further conducted using the meta-heuristic Grey Wolf Optimizer, with constraints derived from AGMA standard. The optimized design is verified via finite element analysis.
